We are seeking an experienced Senior ISP / Image Quality Engineer to join our automotive imaging and computer vision team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in CMOS image sensors, ISP pipelines, image quality tuning, camera bring-up, and automotive imaging systems.
Solid understanding of CMOS sensor architecture, geometric optics, and YUV/RGB color spaces.
Sensor Bring-up: Perform low-level driver bring-up, including I2C/MIPI configuration, clock tree setup, and register file programming for new CMOS image sensors.
ISP Pipeline Optimization: Tune and characterize ISP blocks, including Black Level Correction (BLC), Lens Shading Correction (LSC), Demosaicing, and Color Correction Matrices (CCM).
Noise Reduction Tuning: Develop and optimize spatial and temporal noise reduction algorithms (2D/3DNR) to balance signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) against ghosting and motion blur.
Auto-Exposure (AE) & Auto-White Balance (AWB): Configure and tune 3A algorithms to ensure consistent, stable exposure and color temperature under extreme dynamic range conditions (e.g., tunnel exits, night driving).
HDR/WDR Management: Optimize High Dynamic Range (HDR) fusion algorithms to maintain detail in both shadow and highlight regions without introducing artifacts.
Lens Characterization: Analyze optical performance (MTF, distortion, vignetting) and create correction tables integrated into the image processing pipeline.
IQ Objective Metric Validation: Utilize standard targets (e.g., ISO 12233, GretagMacbeth) and Imatest/DXOMARK workflows to validate and document image quality metrics.
Subjective IQ Tuning: Conduct subjective image quality evaluations to refine "look and feel" preferences, ensuring images meet aesthetic and functional requirements.
Automotive Compliance: Ensure imaging systems meet strict automotive standards, including ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ASPICE compliance.
Dark/Night Performance Tuning: Specifically optimize sensitivity and low-light performance for ADAS features such as pedestrian detection and lane keeping.
Flicker Mitigation: Implement and verify LED flicker mitigation (LFM) strategies to ensure compatibility with traffic signs and LED lighting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with hardware, optical, and computer vision teams to align sensor selection with end-application performance requirements.
Performance Debugging: Perform root-cause analysis for image artifacts, ISP crashes, or thermal-related performance degradation.
Driver Development: Collaborate with software teams to optimize ISP firmware and driver performance for low latency and high throughput.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive tuning documentation, including specification sheets, tuning guides, and test reports.
Algorithm Prototyping: Propose and prototype custom image processing algorithms (in MATLAB/Python/C++) to solve unique challenges in automotive computer vision.
Supplier Management: Coordinate with image sensor and lens vendors to review specifications and troubleshoot silicon-level issues.
Field Testing: Lead vehicle-level data collection campaigns to capture real-world datasets for tuning validation.
Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends in computational photography and deep-learning-based ISP enhancements to maintain technological leadership.
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Languages: Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python or MATLAB for data analysis and prototyping.
Experience: Hands-on experience with ISP pipelines 5+ Years
